UNIQUELY SINGAPORE

ORCHARD ROAD  Singapore's shopping district

Being the retail and entertainment hub of Singapore, this 2 kilometre long boulevard is home to many shopping malls, restaurants, cinemas and hotels. Orchard Road derived its name from the nutmeg, pepper and fruit orchards or the plantations that the road led to in the mid-19th Century.

Every December, Orchard Road will be the focal point of Singapore's lavish Christmas decorations, attracting tourists from all over the World who wants to experience an unforgettable Tropical Christmas.

Orchard Road is easily accessible from all corners of Singapore, thanks to the close proximity of Orchard, Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset MRT stations.

SINGAPORE RIVER  The birthplace of a nation

Flowing through the Central Business District, the 3 kilometre long Singapore River was the site where Sir Stamford Raffles landed in 1819 and founded one of the most important Crown Colony for the British Empire.

The north bank houses many government building such as the Parliament and Supreme Court, while the skycrappers laden south bank is the financial heart of this island nation. Singapore's best nightspots can be found along the riverside streets of Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay.

The main tourist attractions here are the Asian Civilisations Museum, Raffles statue, the Merlion, Peranakan Museum and the 282 metres high 1-Altitude Viewing Gallery.

The riverside is served by Raffles Place and Clarke Quay MRT stations. Alternatively hop onboard the Singapore River Cruise to take in the beautiful sights along the river.
