PHU KHAO THONG  (Golden Mount)

Built on a man-made hill, the Golden Mount or Wat Saket is Bangkok's well-known landmark and a sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site during the Loy Krathong worshipping period in November. To get to the top requires a climb up some 300 steps, which encircle the chedi like a loosely coiled snake. The steps are well-paved and the climb is easy. It is best to climb in early morning to avoid the extreme heat.
